Bright Lights Swiss Chard is as nutritious as it is beautiful. The red veins and vibrant green leaves might lead you to believe it's just a pretty garnish, but you'd be missing out if you didn't give this powerhouse green a try! Its taste has been compared to something between beetroot greens and spinach, with hints of both earthiness and bitterness. Much more mild than spinach or kale, it makes the perfect green for beefing up nutrients without the pungent taste of most greens. Use it in casseroles and soups to add depth, saute it on its own, or finally chop for a crisp and refreshing salad.
It is closely related to beets and spinach, with the leaves that are edible and taste great raw as baby greens or grown up to be a hearty green that can be sauteed into a tasty side dish. Add them to any dish to bring vibrant color and a greater depth of flavor.

Is there a guarantee of quantities or contents?
Members support our farm by sharing in the inherent risks of agriculture (poor weather, drought, disease, early frost, crop failure and so on) and rewards (the bounty from a good season.) We purposely plan for such contingencies, and use growing techniques that protect the harvest, minimize risk to members and optimize the rewards: growing a wide variety of crops that thrive in different types of conditions, cover cropping, crop rotation, and irrigation.
Rommey Farms L.L.C. will act in good faith to provide fresh produce for the duration of the season, however, there is no guarantee of quantities or contents of weekly shares. Members are welcome to split a share with someone. However, share-splitting is the responsibility of the member. Rommey Farms L.L.C. does not manage the splitting of shares. Many members work out arrangements to share with their friends and neighbors, when they have to leave town during the growing season.
